In October of 2000, Bernard Mailhot from the Island Crew decided to invite all of Montreal to come and play a game of Poser on ‘the’ city hall bench. Enrollment was 5 bucks, and the winner would take home the cash and the Poser Game Trophy, which was built by Alex P-C and Oliviero Fontana.
The energy that night was as intense as the old city hall days. That game was the last real session at City Hall since. There were approximately 40 people there that night, and in the middle of the game, the police rolled up. Skaters protested by slamming their boards down trying to intimidate the dozen police officers. Taking action Bernard executed his plan B, which was to finish the game at the Molson parking lot where he kept his personal metal training box. As a pack of criminals, we fled to the streets, stopping to flood a corner store (to refuel on beer). Jai Ball ended up getting chased with a bat for swiping a six-pack. Hooking onto a passing car, he made one hell of a getaway. The game resumed at the Molson parking lot where J-P Brodeur and Jay ended up being the last two standing, until J-P half-cab crooked his way to victory, becoming the first ever to win the trophy and the loot. |
